I am a PhD candidate in philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis. I work mainly on epistemology and philosophy of cognitive science. Here are my CV and my publications.
I am especially interested in how reasons and reasoning fit into nature, working on questions like:
What are reasons?
What is reasoning?
What is it to treat something as a reason?
Are reasons explained by other normative notions?
My research brings the resources of cognitive science to bear on these traditional questions. I also have active projects in social cognition, early modern philosophy, and social epistemology.
I love teaching, and I am passionate about active learning and inverted classroom methods.
My email is a.dealwis@wustl.edu. Please email me for drafts of any papers or talks that I've presented!
